Marine Parks
The Kenyan coast is home to several marine parks that are famous for their diverse marine life and coral reefs. These parks are managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service and provide an ideal environment for a wide range of water-based activities, including snorkeling, diving, and swimming.
One of the most famous marine parks along the coast is the Malindi Marine National Park, which was established in 1968. This park is home to over 600 fish species, 400 types of coral, and a range of marine mammals, including dolphins and whales. Visitors to the park can enjoy guided snorkeling and diving tours, as well as glass-bottom boat rides to see the coral reefs.
Another popular marine park is the Watamu Marine National Park, which was established in 1965. This park is known for its clear waters, white sandy beaches, and coral gardens that are home to a wide range of marine life, including sea turtles, dolphins, and whale sharks. Visitors can take guided snorkeling and diving tours to explore the park’s coral reefs or go on a boat trip to see dolphins and whales in their natural habitat.
