Central Highlands

Kenya’s central highlands are meant for the adventurous at heart.  It is here that Mount Kenya, Africa’s second-highest mountain towering 5,200m above sea level, rises into the clouds. Climbing Mount Kenya is one of the great rites of passage of African travel as it provides a challenge for mountain climbers, trekkers and hikers. It is unique in that it is the only snowcapped mountain straddling the equator. In its shadows lie two of Kenya’s most intriguing national parks, Meru National Park and Aberdares National Park that are home to numerous animal species some of which are endangered.

Further to the east of Meru National Park are the little explored Bisidani and Rahole Reserves awaiting exploration by those daring enough to take up the adventure. In the beautiful Laikipia Plateau and the Matthews Ranges, you will find stunning lodges and camps owned and run by the local communities that offer wilderness luxury and an opportunity to learn about Kenya’s least known cultures.
